We’re proud to present the very first Introduction to Motion Capture Performance Workshop to be held at Advanced Media Production PROTO in Gateshead! We invite all actors, performers and those interested in motion capture to join our expert team as we teach you the basics and get you ready for our exciting industry. We teach you all about the history, the volume and the technology to help inform your technique. For traditional actors who are new to motion capture, we introduce you to methods to transform your performance into the digital realm. Motion capture is the industry standard for many kinds of media production. The accuracy and flexibility of motion capture makes it the optimal method for creating animations for film, TV, video games and advertisements. Advanced Media Production at PROTO houses a massive 18M x 10M volume, and a 28 camera OptiTrack motion capture system, utilising Unreal Engine for our digital environments and characters. OptiTrack motion capture systems are used in the world’s top gaming and media studios, including Ubisoft, Activision, 2K and Disney. ​The workshop is led by Target3D's Performance Consultant Ryan Mercier who has been a professional actor and director for many years working in both Theatre and Film, training in the UK and New York. His focus in training has been in the Meisner Technique and has further training in long form Improv. Ryan has starred in a number of motion capture projects and films including Angels in Notting Hill with the late Sir Christopher Lee, We Still Steal the Old Way and MLE. Ryan has worked at a variety of prestigious Film Schools and Universities, leading courses in acting for film, acting for mocap and directing actors. At the end of the course we supply you with videos and images of your performance that can be used in showreels and portfolios.
