Course duration: 2 days Designed for: Learners who have completed the Introduction to Motion Capture Performance Workshop Course Overview: This two-day intensive course is designed to advance your performance capture skills by focusing on the art of storytelling through movement. You will move beyond technical basics into the exploration of physical storytelling, cinematic locomotion, and embodying fully realised characters. By the end of the course, you will be able to confidently create nuanced performances for full body performance capture that translate into compelling characters. Our tech includes a full OptiTrack motion capture system, Unreal Engine, Standard Deviation FaceCams, broadcast witness cams. You’ll be experiencing state of the art technology. At the end of the course we supply you with videos and images of your performance that can be used in showreels and portfolios. Learning Outcomes: By the end of the course, you will: - Develop storytelling techniques through movement and physical performance - Deepen their understanding of locomotion and cinematic movement for different characters, scenarios and cinematic structure - Explore how to "live through" a character using internal and external processes. - Apply narrative and character-driven approaches to full body performance capture. Maggie Bain is an actor, movement specialist, and innovator in motion capture and virtual production technologies, with over two decades of experience across stage, screen, and video games. Their credits include AAA game titles such as DUNE: AWAKENING, live motion capture theatre productions such as the Royal Shakespeare Company's DREAM and they are also co-creating their own live motion capture virtual reality experience SHAPESHIFTER which is supported by the BFI and The Arts Council. They teach acting and movement for virtual environments at LAMDA, Guildhall and UAL. As the founder of Glittermine, Maggie is dedicated to empowering performers with the skills needed for the future of digital entertainment. This workshop draws on Maggie's wealth of industry knowledge to provide professional actors with advanced techniques for excelling in motion capture environments.
